Hey EA FC 26 fans! The summer of football is fast approaching, and EA SPORTS is gearing up for something big.
It has been confirmed that EA FC 26 will receive two more Season Premium Passes on all platforms – PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
Season 8 arrives on June 4 under the name “Festival of Football,” while Season 9 follows on July 9 titled “International Football.”
The timing of these seasons – especially the July release, which coincides with the FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches – strongly suggests that EA is preparing to bring the world’s biggest tournament to the game. Let’s piece together the evidence and what it could mean for players.
EA FC 26 – FIFA World Cup 2026
Seasons, Timings, and Hints

The schedule speaks for itself. Season 9 is literally called “International Football” and lands right in the middle of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, which kicks off in June and runs through July.
That’s not a coincidence. It strongly hints that the season’s content will revolve around the global showpiece. Meanwhile, Season 8 – “Festival of Football” – arrives on June 4.
If you remember last year’s EA FC 24, the UEFA EURO 2024 content was delivered via a “Festival of Football” Title Update in June 2024. History may be repeating itself.
A new Title Update with the same name in early June would be the perfect vehicle to introduce FIFA World Cup 2026 content to EA FC 26.
Licensed or Generic?
Until an official announcement drops, the FIFA World Cup 2026 is currently expected to arrive as a generic tournament in EA FC 26.
That means a custom brand name, logo, and trophy – not the official FIFA branding. Yes, it will be a disappointment, but it’s expected!
However, EA would still be able to include official match balls, licensed stadiums (host venues in the USA, Canada, and Mexico), and the 48 qualified national teams.
But there’s a catch. Currently, only 18 qualified national teams are in EA FC 26. To complete the full 48-team lineup, EA would need to sign individual licensing deals with another 30 national teams.
That’s a massive undertaking, but not impossible – especially with the World Cup hype driving demand.
List of national teams currently available in the game:
- Argentina
- Croatia
- Czechia
- Denmark
- England
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Ghana
- Hungary
- Iceland
- Italy
- Mexico
- Morocco
- Netherlands
- Northern Ireland
- Norway
- Poland
- Portugal
- Qatar
- Republic of Ireland
- Romania
- Scotland
- Spain
- Sweden
- Ukraine
- United States
- Wales
What Could Change?

If EA SPORTS signs a last-minute deal with FIFA for the official license of the competition, the generic version could transform into a fully authentic FIFA World Cup 2026™ mode – complete with the official brand, logo, anthem, and trophy presentation.
Given EA’s long history with FIFA (until the split), a deal is not out of the question. Money changes everything in the world of licensing, and we cannot rule out concluding a deal that pleases everyone.
What Does This Mean for Players?
At the very least, this is good news. The addition of Festival of Football and International Football seasons, combined with the timing, strongly hints that FIFA World Cup 2026 content is coming to EA FC 26 in June.
Whether it’s licensed or generic, we can likely expect:
- A dedicated tournament mode (similar to UEFA EURO 2024 in FC 24).
- Official match balls and host stadiums (many of which are already in the game or in Madden NFL).
- A push to add the remaining qualified national teams.
- Themed Ultimate Team content, Evolutions, and SBCs around World Cup stars.
Final Whistle
The arrival of Season 8: Festival of Football on June 4 and Season 9: International Football on July 9 is the clearest signal yet that EA SPORTS FC 26 will join the World Cup party this summer.
While we await official confirmation on licensing, the evidence points to a substantial content drop that celebrates global football on the biggest stage.
ReFIFA will be watching every announcement. As soon as EA reveals the full details – whether licensed or generic – we’ll break down everything you need to know.
