Welcome to the EA FC 26 December Feedback Update. A few hours ago, Game Designer Rory shared on EA SPORTS FC Direct Communication X account to share several key changes that are currently in the works, all of which are based directly on the feedback provided by the community.
While we are still waiting for the full Pitch Notes to drop in early January, this confirmation ensures that a major Title Update is on the horizon for all platforms.
We hope that this title update will also add a new set of real faces, general improvements, bug fixes and various additions. Here is a breakdown of what has been officially confirmed for the upcoming January update.
Significant Changes to AI Defending
Perhaps the most discussed topic among the community is the strength of defensive assistance. EA SPORTS mentioned at the end of November that they were investigating this, and it looks like a fix is finally ready.
In the next update, AI defenders will have slower reaction times when marking the ball carrier. This change is designed to make the game feel more manual and rewarding, as defenders may now leave more space open while transitioning between different defensive actions.
For many players, this is the most important fix of the year, as it should reduce the “AI wall” effect during matches.
A New Releases Hub in Football Ultimate Team
Navigating the menu to find the latest content is about to get a whole lot easier. EA SPORTS is introducing a “New Releases” hub within Football Ultimate Team.
This dedicated area will highlight the newest SBCs, Objectives, and other fresh content, so you don’t have to go searching through different tabs to see what’s new.
More details on the layout of this hub will be shared as we get closer to the release date. Follow us on our website, YouTube channel and social media to find out everything firsthand.

Improving the Squad Battles Experience
We have all been there—playing against the CPU in Squad Battles only for them to hold 70% possession without actually trying to score.
Community feedback suggested that the CPU AI has become too difficult and frustrating to play against, especially on higher difficulties.
The January update will address this by shifting the CPU AI’s focus. Instead of maintaining possession for the sake of it, the AI will now prioritize moving the ball up the pitch and creating scoring chances much quicker. This should make the mode feel more dynamic and less like a chore.
The Return of the Player Potential Indicator
If you are a Career Mode enthusiast, you likely noticed a frustrating change in the last update. A new status indicator was added to show a player’s willingness to renegotiate a contract, but it accidentally replaced the Player Potential indicator.
Based on the outcry from fans, EA SPORTS is bringing the potential indicator back. Starting in early January, the UI will be updated to display both indicators simultaneously.
This means you can keep track of your Wonderkids’ growth while also managing their contract demands without any guesswork.
Final Whistle
While these four points are the highlights, there will undoubtedly be even bigger surprises included in the full Title Update.
We are keeping a close eye on the official Pitch Notes and will share every detail with you as soon as they are released. The start of 2026 is looking like a great time for EA FC 26 fans!
