EA FC 26 v1.0.4 update is now available for the PS4/PS5/PC/XB1/XBX|S versions and will soon be available for the Switch versions it includes the updates below.
This is a mid-size patch focused on fixing gameplay edge-cases, polishing goalkeeper controls, and smoothing user-facing bugs in Ultimate Team, Clubs and Career Mode.
Below we break down the tweaks and explain how they’ll affect your matches and saves.

Gameplay Fixes
This update targets a handful of gameplay problems that were creating frustrating moments for players — especially in decisive situations.
Physical Tackles
Some players, particularly those with certain PlayStyles (for example, Bruiser), were unable to execute physical tackles in some situations.
That lack of consistency robbed defenders of tools they should reliably have; v1.0.4 fixes those cases so tackling feels more dependable and fair.
Kick-off Defense
The defensive positioning tweak made in v1.0.2 has been reverted for Authentic Gameplay only. Competitive Gameplay remains unchanged.
In short: if you play in Authentic preset you should notice kick-off defensive shape returning to how it behaved before v1.0.2, while Competitive players keep the current adjustments.
Finesse & Trivela Shots
Two closely related aiming problems were addressed: finesse shots that sometimes curled the wrong way, and rare cases where a Trivela shot would trigger instead of the finesse you asked for.
These fixes should make finishing feel more intuitive and responsive — your swipe inputs and shot choices will match the outcome more often.
Blocking Animations
There were times defenders would prematurely abandon blocking animations (e.g., sticking a leg out then pulling it away too early), creating awkward gaps.
The update improves animation timing so defensive blocks and attempted blocks feel more consistent and believable.
Be-A-Goalkeeper Improvements
Goalkeeper controls and feedback see a solid polish:
- Saves are more responsive.
- GKs are less likely to spin or look away when getting up from a save.
- The timing window for requesting saves has been improved.
- Auto-positioning assistance when claiming crosses is stronger.

Net effect: BAG plays better, and letting the keeper do or not do something should feel less random.
Ultimate Team
Night matches when Stadium Shadow = Off — matches will now play at night if you switch that setting off, aligning visuals with your display preferences.
Evolutions UI — fixed cases where certain Evolutions didn’t display correctly following a specific UI flow.
Those little presentation bugs can be annoying when managing your squad; this update cleans that up.
Clubs
Lobby connection error — some players were disconnected or hit a “connection to lobby lost” message when searching for League Matches. That has been addressed so matchmaking should be more reliable.
Career Mode
Two annoying UX issues were fixed that affected how you manage your squad and transfers:
- Contract renewal messages now appear correctly in the Central Hub when players start discussions.
- You’ll be able to interact with transfer offers for players who have requested transfers — no more stuck offers you can’t respond to.
General, Audio & visual
- Pre-match screen now shows Game Type info in Kick Off so you know exactly what mode you’re jumping into.
- [PC] Fixed issues where resolution changes in full screen didn’t always save.
- Various stability and crash fixes across platforms.
